A Legislation Chairman’s responsibility is to help promote the welfare of children and youth.  A chairman should review and become familiar with the Basic Policy, Resolutions and NYS PTA’s “Where We Stand”. Where We Stand includes all positions adopted by convention delegates over a seven year period.  The chairman will present to their unit the proposed Resolutions which will be voted on at the New York State PTA convention in November.  Become familiar with Nassau Region’s PTA Legislative Priorities.  These priorities are updated every year and are the goals of the PTA.  Legislation Chairman should ask for support of parents, teachers, principal, superintendent, and school board members in attaining the PTA’s goals.
